Basic installation covers replacing a thermostat in the same location where existing low voltage wiring can be used.

Nest is WiFi capable but can be used without an internet connection. When not connected to WiFi it will function normally  but remote control will not be available.

When used, the wireless internet router must be able to use DHCP to assign an IP address and the thermostat must be in range of the router.
